A range of new package distribution solutions from Tetra Pak
Last updated 6 years ago by pi-Team
Tetra Pak offers customers complete packaging solutions. Here are some of the latest additions Tetra Pak brings when it comes to distribution solutions.
Tetra Cardboard Packer 70
New models of Tetra Cardboard Packer 70 now include quick changeover times between 6 & 12 packs of Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Baseline, Slimline and Squareline packages – three of Tetra Pak’s most popular packages – as standard.
This means, that in as little as 15 minutes, customers can change to different package lengths, within 30 minutes they can change to different package lengths and widths and within 45 minutes they can change to different package lengths, widths and heights.
The 15-minute changeover time is important since it gives customers the possibility to change the size of distribution unit without the need for re-sterilisation of the filling machine since it falls within what is known as the “short stop” period. The customer need for having these different distribution unit sizes is driven by two market trends:
– Firstly, sales of 1-litre packages through retailers with smaller shelf and storage space, such as convenience stores & corner shops, is increasing due to higher consumer accessibility. The 12-pack distribution unit is therefore sometimes too large for these retail channels. In addition, the 6-pack is also an adequate sales unit in channels where consumers traditionally buy the whole unit.
– Secondly, requirements from supermarkets and hypermarkets where the number of Stock Keeping Units is increasing as a result of further segmentation in milk and juice categories means that there is consequently a need for smaller units.
Screw cap distribution unit
Also being made available for the Tetra Cardboard Packer 70 is a new kind of distribution unit providing a top-class solution for Tetra Brik Aseptic and Tetra Prisma Aseptic Square packages with screw cap openings.
“Packages with screw cap openings represent an ever-increasing business for our customers,” says Ricardo Andrade, Commercialisation Manager, Value Segment, Tetra Pak Carton Ambient. “This solution provides maximum protection for these packages throughout the distribution chain and minimises damage during handling and transportation.”
Tetra Pak Film Wrapper 68
The recently introduced Film Wrapper 68 – Speed, able to handle the high-speed production of Tetra Pak aseptic carton packages thus helping customers lower operating costs, is now also released in a lower speed version which has a high level of flexibility.
This increased flexibility enables customers to better protect their investments against market changes or support promotions and marketing campaigns, for example. Film Wrapper 68 can be quickly adjusted to meet different package shapes or sizes.
Packing patterns can be easily changed too. What’s more, a range of new packing patterns has been introduced with Film Wrapper 68:
– Packing patterns 5×1 and 5×2 for TBA and TB portion packages is a unit size driven by the increasing usage of lunch boxes (school milk) and nutritional food, consumed once a working day, and the need to increase package visibility on the shelf in the larger channels such as hypermarkets & supermarkets.
– Meanwhile, packing patterns 1×2, 1×3, 2×1 & 3×1 for TBA and TB 1-litre, 500 B packages is driven by increasing sales of family packages in convenience stores where larger multipacks, such as 4 and 6 packs, are too big due to limited shelf space. Compared to larger multipacks this size of unit also allows our customers to offer consumers a conveniently-priced TBA multipack.
With Film Wrapper 68 customers can choose either shrink or stretch-wrapped film units and clear or printed film in register for both portion and family packs.
