Mobile RFQ Checklist for Custom Packaging Buyers: What to Send First

Many custom packaging buyers start supplier research on mobile. The first message often decides whether the supplier can understand the project quickly or has to ask several basic questions before reviewing structure, material, artwork and sampling needs.

For buyers comparing custom packaging suppliers, a mobile RFQ should be short enough to send from a phone, but complete enough for a useful first review.

1. Start with product information

Buyers should send product type, product dimensions, approximate packed weight, product photos and whether the package is for one item, a product set, retail display, ecommerce shipping or a promotional kit.

2. Name the packaging category

The RFQ should state whether the buyer is asking about cosmetic packaging, rigid gift boxes, folding cartons, paper tube packaging, corrugated mailer boxes, paper bags, clear PET/PVC retail boxes or another custom structure. This helps the supplier route the request to the right structure and material discussion.

3. Add artwork and finish status

A useful mobile RFQ can mention whether artwork is ready, whether the buyer has a logo file, whether there are reference photos, color direction, barcode or label needs, insert requirements and surface finish ideas such as matte, foil, embossing or spot finish.

4. Include target market and channel

Retail shelf packaging, ecommerce delivery packaging and gift-set packaging may need different structure decisions. Buyers should mention target market, sales channel, destination region and whether a plain sample, printed sample, dieline review or structure review is needed first.

5. Keep commercial terms project-specific

Online buyer notes should not be treated as fixed MOQ, fixed lead time, fixed price, lowest-price promise, certification scope, food-contact suitability, production capacity, named customer case, destination-market approval or legal compliance proof. Those details need project-specific review.
