How Dry Ice Improve Cold Chain Packaging
Cold-chain packaging plays an important role in transporting products that need to remain within a controlled temperature range. Food, seafood, dairy products, pharmaceuticals and other temperature-sensitive items can lose their quality when exposed to unsuitable temperatures. Dry ice and ice gel packs are two practical cooling solutions used to help maintain product temperature during transportation.
What Is Dry Ice?
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide (CO₂). Unlike ordinary ice, dry ice does not melt into liquid water. Instead, it changes directly from a solid into gas through sublimation. This makes dry ice useful when products need strong cooling without additional liquid inside the package.
Dry ice is commonly used for transporting frozen food, seafood, meat and other temperature-sensitive products. When combined with suitable insulated packaging such as thermopore or other insulated boxes, it can help maintain low temperatures during transportation.
